Some of you would already be aware that I’d wanted to be an author from my early teens.
Truth be known, it was probably longer than that, but that was when I became aware of how important it was to me.
It took me 36 years to realise that dream. It was a couple of months before my 50th birthday and it happened almost by accident rather than design.
But it did happen!!
And I never, ever gave up on it.
I can’t even imagine giving up on something so deeply held, but people do it all the time.
Here’s the thing: We don’t have forever. One day your life will end. It is the only thing in life that we can be certain of. Every day that you don’t make a move toward your dreams you are making a choice to give up on them.
What is life about if we don’t have dreams?
We need to keep our dreams alive. We need to make our dreams a priority, even if we are just making the smallest move in their direction.
What can you do today to make a move toward realising your dream?

My inner voice is the kindest voice I know…
Do you talk to yourself like you would talk to someone you love and admire? Or do you have a tendency to criticise and find fault with yourself?
Something I learned in my counselling days was that we don’t just have feelings about things – the people or events in our lives. We also have feelings about our feelings, and that is where a lot of turmoil comes from for lots of us.
This is particularly true when it comes to something that means a lot to us. The more it matters, the more we tend to judge. Have you noticed that about yourself?
Wanting to write a book for example, I’d wanted to write a book for so long and it was really important to me – thought about it every day for years type of important – but it felt like an unreachable goal, and I judged myself for wanting something that I was pretty sure I was not worthy of.
It wasn’t until I stopped judging myself for having such a dream that I was able to actually achieve it.
Could you be more supportive or yourself and your dreams?
What would that sound like?
What would that feel like?
What could you achieve if you got out of your own way?

Do you make time for fun?
Something I have learned over the years is that when I am not having fun I’m not a lot of fun to be around. I get restless and then I tend to get myself into trouble.
But as an author/writer/business person with an entrepreneurial mindset, and someone who thrives on being in a creative space, not having fun means I’m not being creative.
I read a book years ago by author Dan Norris called Create or Hate. In it, Dan says successful people make things and he believes we need to be in a creative space for at least 50% of each day.
He goes on to say that most of us have always wanted to make something, but for any number of reasons haven’t. Maybe you used to make things as a child, but stopped some time into adulthood.
What is that something for you? Writing a book? Creating a blog? Learning photography? Starting a podcast? Launching a business?
I also have a beautiful friend named Amanda Ewin whose business is all about helping people bring joy into their lives.
Amanda has been put on the earth to help you bounce out of bed in the mornings and shift from feeling meh to magnificent, using a blend of hot science and cool spirituality.
What would make you bounce out of bed every day?
If the thought of writing your book and getting it published would make you bounce out of bed everyday then join us in our 30-Day Book Writing Challenge. Let us help you find the spark in your day.
You CAN move mountains💪
You just need to believe in yourself.
As a writer, you have the capacity to inspire great change. Did you know that? Is this something that matters to you?
When we speak, unless our words are recorded in some way, they eventually dissipate and can be lost forever. When our voice is recorded, however, our thoughts and our words take on a life of their own and they can potentially live forever.
Our thoughts and our words can be having a powerful impact on other people long after we have left the room.
So…
What do you need to be writing about?
What sort of an impact do you want to have?
Who do you want to inspire?
How do you want to influence?
What will be your legacy?
